A genuine nightmare - stay away

Initially they were quick to respond and answered all of my questions satisfactorily. However, when their movers arrived, I had a bad feeling - they had no ropes, no carts, came about 8 hours late and deliberately did a lousy job documenting all of my belongings. They had me sign a total loss insurance on purpose, which did not cover me in case of partial loss. I had about 78 boxes in total and on the bill of lading they put about 38. When my belongings reached Spain, they had mysteriously "lost" about 40 of them, causing me financial damage north of $5000. They never filed with the police, never bothered chasing the missing boxes and until the very end played stupid with their insurance. Thus, they had me waste a whole week chasing their insurance company, promising me to repay the deductible and other expenses, even they knew from the beginning that this insurance is no good as it covered only total, NOT partial loss. At the end, they reimbursed just $500 which is negligible, given the fact that they lost/stole/misplaced invaluable objects, including US government issued documents and two brand new computers. They had the audacity of telling me - you should NOT have used the original packaging and you should have paid us $50 per box so that we could know what is inside.

Damaged my floor and won't fix it.

When they moved the furniture in they damaged the floor. The fix for the floow cost 2,000$ (Official invoice from Home Depot). However they refused to pay the entire sum - they only agreed to pay 500$ with no real justification othen than "that's what we think the fix should cost". I DID NOT ASK THEM FOR MONEY - I just want my floor fixed. They are more than welcome to bring any other professional floor installer and fix at whatever cost they can find but it is impossible to get from them ANY reasonble reponnse and I am stuck.   Strongly suggest NOT TO WORK WITH THEM!
There were many other problem of damaged stuff that insurance refused to cover becuase their movers did not register the content correctly but the issue above is the main one.

Bottom line - terrible experience!

Official company response

This customer didn't sign a contract with Blue Horizon Shipping Inc to begin with; we operated as a destination agent who is in charge of customs clearance and delivery only! So any issue regards insurance or damaged goods needs to be address with the origin agent which did the packing and signed a contract with this client.
About the wooden floor, we receive the complain 2 months after delivery took place, we spoke with our crew that preformed the delivery and they told us that nothing happened, we looked at the delivery report no comments or any remark about any damaged floors.
The client is trying to claim money for damages that we never caused to begin with and we have absolutely no responsibility for.

Blue Horizon shipping.

Dan Cohen and David Rico were very good and informed me for several years prior to the actual international move. They answered questions at every step of the process. The only drawback is they do not accept credit cards for full payment which seems to be the industry standard.

The movers arrived on time and worked very quickly and efficiently.

Their contract provider in DR, LG Movers also worked very efficiently. I highly recommend this company. No complaints whatsoever.

Damaged delivery. Pathetic experience with them.

Horrible experience with this company. It took too much time in delivering the stuffs.  In the contract they say 5-7 weeks and when we asked after 3months they said they have no clue where our stuff is, finally when we received everything one whole box was missing and all the furnitures were broken .  No idea how they are getting A rating in BBB they don't deserve get  D also.

Official company response

On 5/29/14 we were notified of regrettable damages and initiated an investigation of source of damage. Client was asked to provide pictures of pieces in question and provided with instructions on filing an insurance claim to rectify the situation. Thus far, we have not heard back from the client.

Long-distance move from New York to New Jersey

Poor Quality Moving.

I used Blue Horizon moving with Dan Cohen, and I had a horrible experience. Him and his employees are a scam. I have a handful of missing items from my move, the quote for moving my 1 bedroom apartment magically tripled during the moving. (I didn't have any other choices at this point, I had to be out of the apartment on the 1st). Extra boxes cost me another 109$, it is ridiculous. If I can save one person from using blue horizon, then I have saved you a lot of head ache. When I called Dan Cohen to follow up with my missing items, he didn't even sound like he care at ALL. Such a scam. DO NOT USE BLUE HORIZON!!

We have checked our record and we never had anyone by that name used Blue Horizon Shipping Inc in the past.

This is a fake review!!

Most terrible business experience of my life.

THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN ANY LINE OF BUSINESS. I AM COMPLETELY SERIOUS ABOUT THIS.
We unfortunately hired them to move our stuff form New York to Vancouver, Canada. Biggest mistake of my life.  Here's what happened:
-They told us that our shipment should take 14-21 days
-After 14 days, our stuff still hadn't even left the suburban warehouse they had stored it in after picking it up!
-After 18 days, they told is it would arrive by day 23.
-After day 23, they told us it should arrive by day 25.
-After day 25, they told us to expect it on day 26.
-After day 26, they told us to expect it on day 27.
-The shipment actually finally arrived the afternoon of day 28.
-THEY LOST THREE ITEMS, with NO EXPLANATION, saying effectively "well stuff happens"
-THEY BROKE OR DAMAGED MULTIPLE ITEMS
-THEY OFFERED NO COMPENSATION FOR THEIR FAILURES
-They don't do any of the shipment themselves. We were not informed that they would be outsourcing, but a second company was supposedly.  Blue Horizon is nothing more than a very unhelpful middle man.  One that I would recommend you avoid at all costs.
-Their agents repeatedly lied to us.  I caught them in a few lies when I pointed out that what they were telling me via email was different than what they were telling me by phone.  When I called them on it they started accusing me of being unprofessional, which is unbelievable.  I AM A CUSTOMER.  You are the unprofessional ones.  LYING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, and in some cases, illegal.  Do no trust this company.  I intend to file with the Better Business Bureau on this and we'll see what they have to say.

If you have a choice between using Blue Horizon Shipping or leaving all your earthly belongings in the middle of the street for weeks, I think I would recommend the latter.  Simply the worst experience I have ever had in my life.  They are absolutely awful.

Official company response

Mr. Bluman shipment was picked up by 8/17 and the ETA that was given to him was indeed 14-21 days.
The shipment was delivered on 9/14 which is 19 business days after the pickup still within the window we gave him.
Mr. Bluman was in touch with our office throughout the all process and got updates on a daily basis and via email, and on the phone few times.
We accommodated any request Mr. Bluman had from a specific mover that did the onsite survey, up to not charging him for long carry even though the service elevator wasn’t available and we needed to carry the items more than 350 feet away.
On the delivery report Mr. Bluman signed he had 2 minor damages for items he insured and he was instructed by our office to file insurance claim, Mr. Bluman received all the information how to file a claim and was told that the process can take up to 30 days.
We have provided Mr. Bluman a great service, starting with an onsite survey following by a precise quote, deliver the items on time, we are very upset to see that Mr. Bluman posted such a complaint and painted our company in such negative light, we wish Mr. Bluman all the best with his relocation and hope he will learn to appreciate good and honest service.

Wouldn't recommend this Company.

Really let down by this company and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. We did an international shipment from London to New York in September 2014. All went smoothly until it was time to receive our goods in November 2014. I even wrote David Rico that I was going to post a bad review for the company, which he decided not to respond to. Which in my mind makes the customer service for this company even worse than I thought. Here are the main reasons we don't recommend this company -   1. When we were picking a company to use for our shipping, we chose Blue Horizon over another company because David Rico said Blue Horizon would supply free storage (in the USA) for 1 month free of charge. We wanted this service because he didn't yet have a place to live and we knew it might take some time to find a place. When our goods arrived in New York we told David we wanted to use this free storage offer. He then informed us that the free storage started on date of pick-up of goods. He even sent me a paragraph from the agreement where I agreed to this. I then forwarded an email to him where he clearly states free storage in the USA for up to one month. Which clearly means he couldn't charge us for storage from pick-up date, since the pick-up was in London. Although you waived the fee, it took my determination on getting what was promised for the result to end in my favor.   2. The horrible communication when it came for our shipment to be delivered to our apartment. It felt very last minute and they even showed up an hour past the scheduled time.   3. Our shipment didn't all arrive in the condition it was when it left us back in September in the UK. We are especially shocked by the damage on our wardrobe (which there company packed), the amount of damaged items (picture frames, porcelain items, mugs, etc) and the shape of some of the boxes when they got to us. Some items are missing which we think might have fallen out of these broken boxes. Items we will never see again.    I also found the extra custom charges, etc to be a bit high. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Bad company.

It went wrong from the beginning. The trucker doesn't show up on time, then he cancels at the last minute and it has to be rescheduled for 5 days later. The quote that they originally gave us has triple even though we increased the boxes and I knew it was going to be a little bit more but not that much. They have refused to give us an explanation and photos because I don't believe the shipment is that big as they say. Now my shipment is going to be delayed by 1 month and I have to pay or I will start incurring charges for storage. ridiculous!

I don't recommend using this company to anybody.

Thank you.

So-so experience.

I used this company to move most of my 1-bedroom apartment, volume just under 300 cubic feet, from Texas to Europe.

The good:
- The movers in Texas did a good job of wrapping my furniture carefully. Everything was in good shape when I unwrapped it.
- My contact person at BHS was always responsive when I had questions.

The not-so-good:
- The estimated ETA of my shipment was 5-8 weeks. However, it ended up taking 12 ½ weeks, and it probably would have been even longer had I not complained to them. BHS must feel that such a delay is perfectly acceptable as they did not offer me any compensation.

- The Texas movers tried to charge me $125 per flight of stairs (up to 10 steps), excluding the first flight. Since I was on the second floor which was about 40 steps, that would have added an additional $375 to my move, adding almost 10% to the price of the entire move. Totally disproportionate to the labor costs associated with the movers spending 10 minutes extra of their day walking those stairs. I put up a fight and had it reduced to $150, which is still $150 more than I was expecting to pay. I was not clearly warned about this stair surcharge beforehand (it may have said something about stairs in the fine print of the quote, but not the amount). My advice would be to discuss this with BHS before they arrive in order to avoid nasty surprises.

All said and done, I had to pay $150 for stairs plus $140 for a customs X-ray in Europe in addition to money paid directly to BHS. The customs fee itself was expected, although the amount was perhaps a bit hefty.

Very bad experience with a careless company.

I am very disappointed with the whole relocation process, first the extra cost about U$1.500 (which I understand now why) but it will be better to know before signed the contract, in that case my company will pay it and not me from my own pocket. Now about ten days after the delivery my disappointment and frustration is even bigger, on top of the damage of the cushion of two chairs of the dinning set, several of our labelled "delicate or fragile" objects were not only broken, they were completely crushed, including all our ceramic and porcelain, many kitchen small appliances and some of our portraits, even my daughter's bike from wheel and breaks were damage. Unfortunately in our rush receiving all the boxes, we did not count them to be sure to receive all and we have missing two boxes one with kitchen supplies and other with shoes. I do not know who is responsible for the damage and losses if Blue Horizon in USA or Conroy here in New Zealand.
I signed a contract with Blue Horizon, I already sent a complaint to Blue Horizon and it was complete ignored.
Base in my experience I can't recommend any of these two companies, very disappointed!
